I do not know about you, but there are certain things in life that I simply do not understand. I would consider myself a big fan of logic, which is why I simply would not be Major League Baseball's playoff system! First of all, I applaud baseball allowing only 8 teams in the post season. I would think that the reason for being so selective in the amount of teams you allow in the post season is to increase the importance of the regular season. This obviously is not as high priority sports such as basketball and hockey, which allows more than fifty percent of its teams in the playoffs. But here is my question: Why not just seed the teams in order of best record for the worst? This seems to ensure that the top teams rewarded for their work over the 162 game season, and also make sure that they are not forced to play a better opponent than they would otherwise be aligned against it. It seems simple, right? But, no. Obviously it would be way too damaging for the game to teams from the same division face off in 1st round. Unfortunately, when there are only 4 playoff teams in the league to begin with, it does not leave you with many other options as far as matchups go.
What drives me even crazier is that in the early stages of the wild card, I do not even know they have a system in place! Take the 1995 American League as primjer.Indijanci are by far the best record in the game. Then came the Red Sox, Yankees (as a wild card team), and the Mariners who won the West. Ok, so I understand that if the best team played the worst teams, then the Yankees will play the Red Sox in the 1st round. Fine, you eliminate that and make it so that the Indians play a wild card team, the Yankees, which is the third best record, and then the second seeded Rex Sox can play Seattle, which ended with the worst record. Well obviously that was too easy. Instead, the Indians played the Red Sox, who finished seven full games ahead of the Yankees, but apparently still has not earned the home field advantage in the first round, the Mariners host the Yankees. If someone can find the logic in this, please let me know. But enough about the stupidity of baseballs, I do not want to be here all dan.Činjenica is, I always wondered if the way chosen by his baseball matchups did not actually have an impact on who will win at the end of the World Series. Would we have seen a different champion crowned, if baseball simply seeded team, 1-4 in each league, and not worry about where the division wild card came from? Well, maybe its not too late.
Let's start with the years that were not zahvaćene.1995 playoffs to see different matchups in the first round and at the end of the ALCS, but at the end of the Braves and Indians would face off for the championship, the Braves came out on top. 1998 and 2001 will be completely unaffected (this happened because the wild card team stayed in the same division as the team with the best record, but the wild card team had the second or third best record overall). I thank God for that, because the 2001 World Series was one of uzraste.Posljednje three years (2003-'05) will also be largely unchanged, with the exception of 2004 National League matchups.Astros would be forced to play the Cardinals in the first round, a Braves will play the Dodgers, so the Astros go home a lap early and Braves make it to another nlcs, ultimately lost the card. Finally, the Red Sox break the curse against St. Louis. That leaves five seasons in which "new form" provides us with a strong possibility that a different champion is crowned.
Let's start with 1996.American League will play the same way, the Yankees defeated Baltimore four games in an ALCS. However, there would be uproar in the NL playoffs, when the Braves matchup with the Cardinals in the first round, and the division foes San Diego and Los Angeles, the second and third seeds respectively, will also go head to head. In the first matchup, the Braves fall behind 3 games to 1 (as they did in their nlcs matchup with the Cardinals), except this time they had not had time to win the next three, because the 5-game series will be više.Padres will take care the Dodgers in four games, but not to more than 1 game from the Cardinals, who will win 4 games first NLCL This will allow us to go with a likely matchup with a maximum of two storied franchises in baseball history. This time there would be nobody not named Mark Wohlers on the opposite pitching staff that would be a big home run to the Yankees in game 4 and the Cardinals defeat the Yankees, 4 games first
The following are the 1997th Instead of getting sailors early matchup against # 1 seeded Orioles, they will play the Yankees in a circle. And just like 1995, it would be a classic 5-game series with the Mariners coming back to vrhu.Indijanci still fail to get past the Orioles, this time in the first round, but lost in six games sailors, who were dominant in the regular season, taking eight of 11 games. Their opponent will be the Florida Marlins, whose path to the World Series was unchanged from the new harvest. However, the Marlins were not able to solve the spot of Randy Johnson, who will win 3 games, including the decisive game 7, and collect the first of his two career World Series MVP award. Call me crazy, but the championship under their belt, maybe Griffey Jr., Arod and Randy all that stuck around for several years, instead of eventually go elsewhere.
In 1999, the Braves would slightly different path to the World Series, but it would still come first sweeping the Mets, and then beating the Diamondbacks in six utakmica.AL will be a little more prodrmali.Yankees and Red Sox will meet in a . round, instead of the ALCS. Their 1999 ALCS meeting came after the Yankees momentum Rangers and Red Sox Game 5 a tough tussle with Cleveland. With more fuel left in his tank to come off during the regular season during which the Red Sox were 8 of 12 games against New York, Red Sox will ride their momentum of 3 games to 1 pobjedu.Indijanci to defeat Texas, but would go on to lose Red Sox, who also dominated them in the regular season. However, the curse will have to wait several years to be broken, as the Braves double their regular season, a feat, beating the Red Sox in 4 of 6 games. Can you say that 90 -?
Moving right along, the 2000 National League Playoffs to cruise along without any modifications. In the American League, however, there were some serious shakeups once. The two AL West foes Oakland and Seattle in the face with a wild card matchup, and Yankees will play the White Sox.Top seeded White Sox took care of the Yankees in 4 games, and would win in a hard fought 5 game series in relation to Seattle.White Sox care during the 2000 regular season, and little has changed in the ALCS as the White Sox won the series 4 games 2, moving the World Series. Then, in dramatic fashion, the White Sox did what they were able to do so in the previous 82 seasons. They will win their first World Series title since 1917.
Finally we come to 2002. Once again, the NL remains unchanged by the sifting process. In the AL matchups terminated, and the Angels play the Yankees face the twins. Oakland's pitching was too much for Angels explosive offense, and eventually win in 4 hard fought igre.Yankees are pushed to the edge of the upstart Twins, but Minnesota came up short in a tough 5 game series. For the second straight year the Yankees face. However, this time in seven games series, is proving to be too much for the Yankees. After falling behind 3 games 2, return-to-back wins off of Tim Hudson and Barry Zito, Oakland, and passes to the World Series. Again, All-California final, but this time instead of angels fall party turns out that the battle bay and Oakland to San Francisco.Divovi take Oakland's tired legs early, but the end is to have too big hands in the rotation, and Oakland a win in 6 games. "Money Ball" was his first title.
So let's recap: Braves are a team of the 90s, won two World Series titles, four pennants, and eight straight division titles, White Sox make an early run on the team this decade, with 2 titles in 6 seasons, Seattle won the championship, which helps in the preservation of their players and the Yankees make a few bids for the main prize, but comes up short, but all at once. I think that is crazy? Maybe. But not as crazy as baseballs current playoff system. Think about it.
